Community Expertise Needed for Street Epistemology Course Development Project

Now that the Street Epistemology Course Development Project is official, we need volunteer support from the SE Community to help make this effort a success. Could that be you?!

12 October 2020

The project to develop a training course for Street Epistemology has officially begun, and in keeping with the spirit of SE culture, we’re looking for ideas and support from the people in our diverse community! As a community-driven, volunteer-based project, we intend to be as transparent as possible, so anyone interested will be able to follow our progress throughout.

To start, Project Managers (Robert Hamilton [Canada] and Thomas Lacroix [France]) are looking for people with the time and expertise required to join our project Core Team. The Core Team will ideally consist of six to eight people who will be expected to commit to the project over the next nine months or so. The Core Team will be responsible for several critical aspects of the project, and will be led by the Project Managers. The addendum below shows available project positions along with their responsibilities. Please share this announcement with anyone you think could be an asset to the project.

After the Core Team is fully formed, our first task is to build a repository of course topics to consider. What would you like to see in a course on Street Epistemology? Regardless of your personal experience level with SE, we want to reach out for ideas and suggestions from the SE community to fully reflect our shared needs and expectations.

If you can’t commit a lot of time, have a solid grasp of Street Epistemology but still want to contribute, consider joining a Module Team—a small group that will build a specific course module. We plan to have multiple Module Teams active simultaneously. Details on how to join these crucial teams will be announced in the coming weeks.

To get a sense of the broader picture, we have built a comprehensive plan for managing the project, which includes a Project Charter and a RACI matrix, available for your review.

I will act as the liaison between the Course Development Project Team and the non-profit organization Street Epistemology International, for which this course is also being created. While I’m fully committed to this project from start to end, the true strength and success of this project will be firmly grounded on the thoughtful contributions and support from the Street Epistemology community. This means you! Check out the pulse of this project in real time through the #course-development channel on this SE Discord server under the Projects category.

Best regards,

Anthony Magnabosco
Executive Director, Street Epistemology International
