Embracing Progress and Showing Appreciation
Empowering creators, refining conduct, rewarding Volunteers, and enhancing operations.
17 April 2023
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to provide a brief update on our most recent board meeting at Street Epistemology International.
During the meeting, we discussed various topics, including our annual budget, potential investments, and membership benefits. We have decided to postpone certain decisions to future meetings to allow for more informed deliberations.
We are excited to be able to continue providing financial support for content creators to enhance the Street Epistemology community. In this regard, we have approved funding for video equipment to assist in content creation. Head here to complete our revamped funding request form.
Our team also reviewed and approved an updated Code of Conduct, as well as explored options for improving our email and task management systems. We are committed to ensuring a positive and respectful environment for all our members and keeping in close contact with those who reach out to us with their questions, concerns, or ideas.
In anticipation of our participation at the World Humanist Conference, we have been discussing the budget and necessary materials to occupy a booth people can head to after one of our members was invited to give a short talk there. Further discussions will take place once we have a clearer understanding of the costs involved.
To show our appreciation for the hard work of our volunteers, we will begin offering gift cards as rewards in lieu of SE-branded t-shirts, which can get rather expensive when you start factoring in shipping fees. We also agreed on a budget to reward testers who help us test modules from the self-directed SE course as well as other projects that come up.
During the meeting, we also evaluated various software tools and subscriptions that could improve our productivity and outreach. We will be conducting a trial run with some of these services to assess their suitability for our organization.
Finally, we reviewed updates on several ongoing projects, such as the self-directed course, training programs, research studies, and brochures for events. We also discussed committee updates and scheduled our next board meeting.
I'm returning to Washington, DC this week to continue collaborating with other individuals dedicated to combating the spread of false or misleading information. Through our near decade-long experience with Street Epistemology, we've gained valuable insights into how people can become easily overconfident in their own reasoning. It's truly inspiring to be part of such a diverse and engaged group, committed to developing viable, scalable, and transparent solutions to the challenges we face in today's complex information landscape. Stay tuned for more updates on our progress.
Thank you for your continued interest in Street Epistemology International. We appreciate your support and look forward to sharing further updates with you in the future.
Best regards,
Anthony Magnabosco
Executive Director, Street Epistemology International
