We’re pleased to announce that Phase I of the self-directed course on Street Epistemology is scheduled to launch on 15 November 2023 and we cannot be more excited about it!

Hello fellow SEers!

If you’ve been following our monthly updates, you’ve no doubt noticed that we have been working on an online self-directed course for people to learn Street Epistemology. Well, we’re pleased to announce the first phase of course modules will be available to the public on 15 November 2023!

This FREE course, titled Navigating Beliefs: A Learning Course for Rational Conversations, aims to teach you about the conversational elements of Street Epistemology and empower you with the confidence to utilize these skills. You don’t need to know anything about conversational techniques to take this course. Street Epistemology International is releasing the initial modules of an overall course that will be released later.

Here’s Phase I of the course:

• The Course Forward: An introduction to the course and what you need to know to get the most out of it.
• Module 1: What is Street Epistemology? Find out what Street Epistemology is, the key steps of Street Epistemology and how they work together, the main qualities of Street Epistemology, and a brief history of the approach.
• Module 2: Why Use Street Epistemology? Learn which goals you should and could pursue when doing Street Epistemology.
• Module 3: Considering Ethics: Discover the ethical principles to adhere to when doing Street Epistemology.
• Module 4: Having the Right Mindset: Explore the ideal mindsets for Street Epistemology and techniques to develop them.
• Module 5: Preparing to Do Street Epistemology: What factors do we need to consider and practically prepare for prior to doing Street Epistemology?
• Module 6: Building and Maintaining Rapport: Learn how to build and maintain rapport, develop skills that assess and track rapport, avoid actions likely to break rapport, and recover lost rapport.

The course wasn't crafted in isolation. We initiated the project by seeking input from the Street Epistemology communities about their topic expectations. Global subject matter experts then joined the process, meticulously outlining, drafting, and testing each module with volunteers, both acquainted and unacquainted with SE. This thorough process ensured that the content was clear, accessible, practical, engaging, and motivating.

I'm profoundly thankful for the dedicated volunteers who generously contributed their time and skills to this project. Additionally, we've been fortunate to work with outstanding contractors who have supported various facets of the endeavor. As we celebrate the success of this initial phase of release, I'm eager to continue contributing to the development of the remaining course sections.

Stay tuned for our upcoming marketing push promoting the course. We'd greatly appreciate your support in spreading the word once it begins. Our aim is to guide as many individuals as possible towards the online course, empowering them to navigate challenging discussions, foster personal growth, and, in the grand scheme, contribute to making the world a better place.

We're truly thrilled about the imminent launch of the course, and the anticipation is palpable! We encourage our vibrant community not only to dive in but also to actively engage in the material and help us promote it. By spreading the word, you'll be playing a crucial role in its success and the propagation of Street Epistemology to others around the world. Together, we can create a ripple effect of positive change and help make the world more rational.
