Dear Street Epistemology Community,
I am pleased to share key highlights from our recent SEI Board meeting and Community Town Hall.
Board Updates
- Bylaws and Conflict of Interest: We are revising our bylaws to address conflicts of interest and neutrality, specifically regarding board members' affiliations with other organizations.
- Community Engagement: Attendance metrics and health indicators of our content creators and community are being developed. Our Committee Chairs will be asked to spearhead this initiative to optimize our outreach and measure the impact effectively.
- Marketing and Outreach: We discussed refining our approach to social media marketing and are considering additional resources to enhance our contractor’s capacity to manage these efforts.
- Product Development: Our focus remains on ensuring the timely release of new Navigating Beliefs modules. We are exploring specialized SE applications in academic, legal, and medical sectors and discussed the concept of rapid response teams for event-specific engagement.
- Website and Tech Infrastructure: Upgrades to our SE and Navigating Beliefs websites are underway. We'll consolidate our mailing list tools to improve our communication streams and are closely monitoring the effectiveness of our online marketing strategies.
Community Town Hall Reflections
- Expansion into New Sectors: The robustness of the foundational Navigating Beliefs course has rekindled discussions on how SE can be tailored to address specific topics and industries. Our strategic vision includes cultivating critical thinking across various fields such as education, healthcare, and law, to name a few.
- Ongoing Tours and Projects: Our research study is advancing, with a focus on scientifically validating the efficacy of SE techniques. Once possible, we will publish the questions and methodology of our SE study to ensure transparency and invite feedback.
- Future Plans: We are looking forward to more town hall meetings and encourage your active participation. We’ve started working with an expert to find and obtain grants to begin the funding process. The engagement and feedback from these sessions are invaluable.
